Line Tool

Use the Line tool to measure straight-line distances between two points on your drawing.

Steps

1. Press L (Line has no toolbar button). Measuring starts immediately under an auto-generated name (e.g. "Line 1"): rename it any time in the Name field of the Measure panel on the right.
2. Click on the drawing to place the start point of your line.
3. Click again to place the end point. The line is finalized and the length appears in the takeoff list.
4. Keep clicking in pairs to add more lines to the same takeoff.

Notes

• •Measurement tools are locked until the sheet scale is confirmed. Set the scale first (leftmost control in the toolbar).
• •After placing a line, you can select it with the Select tool to adjust the endpoints.
• •Each line always takes two clicks. To measure a curve, use New Takeoff > New Linear > Arc instead.
• •For multi-segment measurements (e.g., a wall that turns a corner), use the Linear tool instead.
