Select Tool

Use the Select tool to click on existing takeoffs to select, move, or reshape them. Selecting a line, linear, or area measurement also enters vertex edit mode so you can reshape it right away.

Steps

1. Press S or V, or click the pointer icon on the toolbar.
2. Click on any takeoff measurement to select it. Lines, linears, and areas show vertex handles immediately.
3. To move a shape: select it first, then click and drag on the shape body (not a vertex). A drag that starts over an unselected shape draws a box selection instead.
4. Drag a vertex handle to a new position to reshape the measurement.
5. Hold Shift and click additional measurements to add them to (or remove them from) a multi-selection.
6. Click on empty canvas to deselect everything.
7. Click and drag on empty canvas to draw a box selection around multiple measurements. If a line, linear, or area is showing vertex handles, click empty canvas first (or press Escape until the handles disappear).
8. Hold Alt (Option on Mac) and drag to box-select even when starting over a selected shape, useful in crowded drawings. This does not work while a shape shows vertex handles, so press Escape until the handles disappear first.

Notes

• •With a measurement selected, press Delete or Backspace to remove it. To delete a whole takeoff, select it in the Takeoffs tab (left sidebar) and press Delete.
• •Right-click a shape while nothing is selected for Copy, Cut, Paste (shown once something is on the clipboard), Duplicate, and Delete. Copy, Cut, Duplicate, and Delete in this menu act on the whole takeoff the shape belongs to. When measurements are selected, right-click shows Reclassify and Delete selected instead.
• •Hold Shift while box-selecting to add to your current selection instead of replacing it.
• •Selection also works while the Pan tool is active: click to select, Shift + drag to box-select.
