Measurement Operations

Editing Vertices

Add, move, or delete individual vertex points on a measurement to reshape it precisely.

Steps

  1. Select a measurement with the Select tool. Vertex handles appear as small cyan circles.
  2. To move a vertex: drag the handle to a new position. A live preview shows the reshaped measurement while you drag.
  3. To add a vertex: hover over an edge between two vertices. A "+" ghost vertex appears. Press and drag it to insert and place the new point in one motion (releasing without moving just inserts it).
  4. To delete a vertex: quick-click its handle without moving it. Areas keep at least 3 vertices and linears at least 2, and the ends of a straight line can't be deleted this way.

Notes

  • •A quick click (released within 0.3 seconds without moving) deletes the vertex, and any drag moves it. Pressing and holding without moving does nothing. Right-click (or Ctrl + click on a Mac) never adds, moves, or deletes a vertex.
  • •You can also press Delete or Backspace while hovering over a vertex to remove it. On a straight two-point line, this deletes the whole line instead.
  • •Clicking the "+" on a straight line converts it into a multi-point linear.
  • •Dragging a vertex near the edge of the viewport auto-scrolls the view.
  • •If adding, moving, or deleting a vertex would make an area's edges cross, nothing changes and you'll see an error message.
