Pricing a Folder of Takeoffs at Once

The estimate worksheet groups your takeoffs into the same folders as the takeoff screen (Auto Takeoffs with Walls, Rooms, Glazing and Door Schedule, User Takeoffs, and your own folders). Price a whole folder in one place, and show it as a single line on the summary instead of one line per wall type.

Steps

  1. Open the Estimates tab. Each folder has its own row, with its takeoffs indented beneath it.
  2. To price the folder, click any cost on the folder row (Labor, Material, Equipment or Subcontract) and enter rates per unit, for example per LF for a folder of walls.
  3. Every takeoff in the folder that has no rate of its own now uses the folder's rate. Its cost shows the folder's name in teal. To price one takeoff differently, open its breakdown and type its own rate; that takeoff's rate wins.
  4. To keep the summary short, collapse the folder with the arrow on its row. A collapsed folder shows as one line on the Summary tab, the proposal and the exports, and its row is tagged One line on summary. Expand it again to list each takeoff, for example to change one wall type's rates.
  5. On the Summary tab you can rename that one line (for example Interior partitions) and give it a code.

Notes

  • •Hover the i next to a folder's name for a quick reminder of how folder pricing works.
  • •A folder whose takeoffs use different units (walls in LF and doors in EA) can't take a folder rate. Price its subfolders, or each takeoff.
  • •Folder rates apply per unit of each takeoff's quantity, after its waste and with its multiplier, like a rate typed on the takeoff.
  • •Collapsing an outer folder (Auto Takeoffs) rolls up everything inside it, its subfolders included, into one line.
