Importing a Price Book
Bring in a price book you already have (Excel, CSV, a Google Sheet, or a PDF with selectable text) and turn its rows into assemblies, grouped into sections, without retyping.
Steps
- Open the Workspace menu (grid icon at the top left of the header), choose Assemblies, and click Import.
- Drop in an .xlsx, .csv or .tsv file or a PDF, or paste rows copied from a spreadsheet. For a Google Sheet choose File > Download > Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) and upload that. Starting from scratch? Download the blank template, fill it in, and upload it.
- If the workbook has several sheets, tick the ones that hold assemblies. Hidden sheets are listed but unticked.
- Check the Columns step: the header row, and which column is the name, unit, labor, material, waste and CSI code. Low-confidence guesses are marked. If the file gives labor hours but no rate, enter your labor rate.
- Review what will be created: rename or merge sections, fix names, units or rates, and untick anything you don't want. Rows already in your library (same section, name and unit) are unticked.
- Click Import. Undo removes everything an import created, from the toast or from the Imports row on the Assemblies page.
Notes
- •The file is read in your browser and is not stored; only the assemblies you confirm are saved.
- •Sections come from the file's headings (such as 09 29 00 Gypsum Board), its Section or Division column, its CSI codes, or the sheet name.
- •Recipe layouts (an assembly row followed by its component rows) are rolled up into one labor and one material rate per unit; the component rows are kept on the assembly for reference.
- •A file's waste % is not applied by default: assemblies import with 0% waste and the rates as written. In the Columns step you can fold the file's waste into the material rate instead, or keep it as Yanno waste (which raises labor too, because Yanno's waste raises the whole quantity).
- •Equipment and subcontract dollars are not part of an assembly. They are listed per row as not imported; you can add them to labor or material in the Columns step instead.
- •SY, SQ, MSF, CLF and MLF rates are converted to SF or LF; CF rates become CY. Rows priced per sheet, box, roll, gallon, day or week arrive unticked until you give them a per-unit rate.
- •Scanned PDFs (no selectable text) and old .xls files are not read: export the spreadsheet as .xlsx, or save the PDF from the original spreadsheet.
