Estimate Summary and Markups

The Summary view adds your markups to the direct costs and general conditions to reach the Grand Total, and holds the proposal details your client will see.

Steps

  1. On the ESTIMATES tab, switch the view toggle from Worksheet to Summary.
  2. In Bid Total, enter Overhead %, Fee %, and GRT & Insurance %. They compound: Overhead applies to the subtotal, Fee to the subtotal plus overhead, and GRT & Insurance to the running total after the fee.
  3. Enter a Permit Allowance in dollars. It is added last, as a flat amount, to reach the Grand Total.
  4. Under Metrics, enter Usable SF to see Cost / SF (the Grand Total divided by the usable square feet).
  5. Expand Proposal Details at the top to fill in the proposal number, dates, client, project, and a scope summary for the exported proposal.
  6. Further down, the Estimate Summary lists each worksheet line for the proposal. Add a Comment to any line, and add Alternates, Allowances, Clarifications & Exclusions, and Inclusions as needed.

Notes

  • •Direct Costs come from the worksheet and General Conditions/Requirements from the general conditions table; together they make the Subtotal.
  • •Each markup is rounded to the cent before the next one is applied.
  • •Cost by Category shows the Labor, Material, Equipment, and Subcontract totals before markup.
  • •Gross Margin leaves out the permit allowance, since it is a pass-through cost.
  • •Alternates (optional adds) and Allowances are listed with their prices but are not included in the base bid.
  • •Export Proposal, next to the view toggle, is shown in the Summary view only (see Exporting a Proposal).
