Text Search
Find and count a text label on the sheet: door tags, keynote references, fixture tags like "SK-1". Text Search reads the PDF's embedded text and highlights each hit for review.
Steps
- Open the Auto Takeoff (lightning bolt) menu on the toolbar and choose "Text Search".
- Type the label in the panel (e.g., "SK-1", "A-101", "EX-3").
- Pick a mode: Exact matches the whole tag (SK-1 does not match SK-10 or DESK-1); Loose is more forgiving (SK-1 matches SK1 and SK-01).
- Click "Search This Sheet". Every match is highlighted on the drawing, and the results list shows each hit. Click a result row to jump to it.
- Click "Add as Count Takeoff" to save the result as a count takeoff with one marker per match.
Notes
- •The Auto Takeoff menu opens only after the sheet scale is confirmed, so set the scale first.
- •Works only on vector PDFs with embedded text. Scanned drawings have no text layer and will not match.
- •The sheet must be at its original 0 degree rotation.
- •Rotated (vertical) labels along dimension lines are found too.
- •Review the highlights before adding: a schedule or legend entry can inflate the count by one.
